What changes are being introduced in Transifex's new plans?

We have transitioned to a more transparent and predictable pricing model, enhanced features, streamlined services, and refined our offerings. The new plans are designed to provide a clearer understanding of our services and align better with the needs of our users.

We have introduced the following changes:

New plans

You can explore our updated plans tailored to cater to various user requirements. Whether you are just beginning your localization journey, progressing into a phase of increased expertise and growth, or representing an enterprise, our new plans offer flexibility and scalability to align with your unique localization goals. Regardless of your stage in the localization process, our revamped plans are designed to cater to your specific needs, ensuring a tailored and effective experience for every user.


​New hosted word count calculation

In our previous calculation method, we determined hosted word counts by multiplying the number of source words with the total number of target languages, whether they were translated or not.

With our new calculation, we now take into account the number of source words exclusively for translated languages, excluding untranslated strings from affecting your hosted words. Additionally, we count unique source and translation pairs just once, providing a more precise representation of your localization efforts. This enhancement ensures that your hosted word count accurately reflects the impact of your translations, offering you a more transparent and valuable metric for your localization projects.


Free add-ons

As part of our commitment to empowering your growth, we've made a strategic decision to offer all content integrations, including popular platforms like Figma and Zendesk, for free. This means you can seamlessly integrate with your preferred tools at no additional cost, enabling you to scale your localization efforts and maximize the value of your Transifex experience.

What are hosted words, and how are they calculated?

Hosted words are the number of source words translated into a specific language in your organization. Duplicate source strings with identical translations in the same language are only counted once.

Example: Hosted word count remains unaffected by untranslated languages

Example: Wordcount capacity is not impacted by duplicate source strings with identical translations in the same language

Let's assume that you have three instances of the following source string in Transifex:

Can I change my new plan at any time?

You have the flexibility to request changes to your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately after you submit your request, while any downgrades will be reflected in your next billing cycle.

For those under contract, it's essential to note that you can continue with your current plan without any impact until your contract’s term end date. Upon expiration, our legacy plans will no longer be available or supported. Before your contract concludes, our team will proactively reach out to you, providing an overview of the available options and assisting you in selecting the plan that aligns best with your requirements.


Can I get additional words without changing my plan?

Yes! Just visit the Subscription page, move the word count slider to the desired number of words, and see the additional charge instantly. If you decide to buy more words, you can do it right from that page! In case you need any clarification, you can reach out to our team for further assistance.


How will this change affect my monthly subscription?

If you are currently subscribed to a monthly plan, you have a 2-month window to review our updated plans and select the one that aligns best with your needs. For example, if your billing cycle starts on the 4th day of the month and the 60-day period ends on April 24th, 2024, the changes to your subscription will be applied on May 4th, 2024. In the event that the review period concludes without any action on your part, an automatic migration to the new plan will take place. The new plan will be tailored based on your usage patterns and the features you regularly utilize, ensuring a personalized and smooth transition to the updated pricing structure that aligns with your requirements.


How does this change affect my annual subscription or contract?

If you have an annual subscription or contract, the impact of this change will come into effect upon your renewal date or contract expiration. Until that time, there will be no immediate effect on your existing plan. You will have the opportunity to look over our updated plans closer to your renewal date so you can make informed decisions based on your needs. This approach ensures a smooth transition for annual subscribers, with changes taking effect only at the start of their next subscription term or contract period.


What if I want to stick with my old plan?

Our legacy plans will no longer be available and will not be used to renew subscriptions or contracts. After the migration, support for these legacy plans will be discontinued for all customers. This decision is part of our commitment to providing improved services aligned with our latest offerings, ensuring a smooth transition for all our users.

How to utilize Transifex AI

How will the pricing for the AI Characters add-on be structured?

The pricing for the AI Characters add-on is structured around packages of characters. We offer various packages that you can utilize for AI translations. The pricing is tiered, allowing you to select a package that aligns with the scale of your usage, offering a customized and cost-effective solution for integrating AI capabilities into your workflow.

What are the pricing options and available tiers for the AI add-on?

We offer various tiers for the AI add-on, ranging from 10,000 to 5,000,000 characters, with prices starting at $80. You can select a tier that best fits your translation needs.

Will the pricing for the add-on be a one-time fee or a recurring subscription?

The pricing for the add-on will follow a recurring subscription model. This means that the cost will be billed on a recurring basis, allowing you to integrate and continue utilizing the add-on feature as part of your ongoing subscription with Transifex.

Is the AI Characters add-on included in the new plans, or is it a separate cost?

The AI Characters add-on is a separate cost and is not included by default in the plans. It offers additional functionalities beyond the standard plans, providing users with the flexibility to choose and customize their subscriptions based on their specific AI needs.

Are there volume-based discounts available for larger usage of the AI Characters features?

We offer volume-based discounts for the AI Characters add-on. The pricing structure is designed to provide cost savings as you increase the volume of characters. The more characters you purchase, the lower the cost per character, allowing for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness as your usage scales.

What is the billing cycle for the AI Characters add-on, and how often will we be billed?

The billing cycle for the AI Characters add-on is tied to the duration of your main subscription. If your main subscription is on a monthly plan, the billing cycle for the add-on will be monthly. Similarly, if your main subscription is on an annual plan, the billing cycle for the add-on will be annual. This ensures alignment with your overall subscription duration, providing flexibility in billing frequency based on your chosen subscription model.

Is there flexibility to enhance our subscription by adding extra characters or adjusting the add-on to meet our evolving needs?

Yes, there is flexibility in adjusting your subscription for the AI Characters add-on. While you have the option to purchase additional characters during the term, modifications such as removing the add-on or reducing the purchased capacity can be processed upon your subscription renewal. This allows you the freedom to tailor your subscription to evolving needs, ensuring you have the right character capacity for your requirements at each renewal cycle.

Are there any penalties or fees for exceeding certain usage thresholds with the add-on?

There are no penalties or fees. It's important to note that once you reach the character limit, any additional character consumption will not be possible, ensuring you have control over the charges associated with the add-on. You will also receive notifications when you reach 80% and 100% of your character limit. This ensures that you have the time to evaluate your usage, make informed decisions, and, if needed, purchase additional characters before reaching the limit.

Is there a trial period available for the AI Characters add-on, and if so, what are the terms?

We're excited to offer a trial period for the AI Characters add-on.

For customers transitioning to the new plans, we're providing the AI Characters add-on for free. Please note that this free add-on is applicable only for the term immediately following the switch to the new plans. Upon renewal, if you wish to retain this feature, it will be available as a separate add-on, and we'll be happy to assist you with the purchase process to ensure the continuity of this feature beyond the initial term.

The number of characters offered during the trial varies based on the main subscription and duration. Specifically:

Starter

  • Monthly Subscriptions: 1,500 Free Characters

  • Annual Subscriptions: 5,000 Free Characters

Growth

  • Monthly Subscriptions: 5,000 Free Characters

  • Annual Subscriptions: 10,000 Free Characters

Enterprise

  • Annual: 20,000 Free Characters

This allows you to explore and experience the benefits of the AI Characters add-on without incurring additional costs during the specified term. We encourage you to take advantage of this trial to assess how these enhancements align with your needs and contribute to your workflow efficiency.

Can you clarify the payment methods accepted for the AI Characters add-on?

The payment methods accepted for the AI Characters add-on remain consistent with your main subscription. You can continue to use credit cards and bank wire transfers for both your main subscription and the add-on, ensuring a seamless and unified payment experience across all aspects of your subscription.


Except for AI, does Transifex offer an MT solution?

In addition to our AI solution, Transifex does offer an MT solution. The MT service is seamlessly integrated and provided as an add-on, similar to our AI offering. There is no need for you to set up your own MT account, as you can conveniently access and utilize MT capabilities through Transifex. With the characters add-on mentioned earlier, you have the flexibility to choose how you consume these characters, whether through AI or MT, based on your specific translation requirements.

Additionally, you have the flexibility to opt for an alternative approach by providing us with the API key from your existing account with any of the Machine Translation providers we support and integrate with.
