TQI (Translation Quality Index) Tasks allow you to evaluate the quality of existing translations at scale automatically. Instead of manually reviewing every string, you can create a task that calculates TQI scores for a batch of content and generates a detailed report with the most common quality issues.

This helps you:

  • Save review time by skipping high-quality translations

  • Focus manual QA only where it’s needed

  • Gain visibility into overall translation quality across projects

  • Reduce review costs by up to 40% compared to manual evaluation

Creating a TQI Task

You can create a TQI task directly from the Editor:

  1. Open the Editor for your project.

  2. Filter and select the strings you want to evaluate. You can run TQI on:

    • Translated strings only

    • Reviewed strings only

    • Proofread strings only

    • All translated content (translated + reviewed + proofread)

  3. Click Create task:

  4. In the task dialog:

    • Set Task type to TQI.

    • Enter a Task name and press Next

    • Select one or more target languages.

  5. Confirm and click Create TQI task. The task is queued, and TQI will be calculated for the selected strings.

πŸ“ Notes:

  • Description and Due date are not available during the TQI task creation.

Task Progress

Progress is tracked automatically in the Tasks area:

  • Type = the status of the strings that are included in the TQI task

  • Total source words = the sum of all source words selected for the TQI task

πŸ“ Notes:

  • If a translation changes or is deleted after TQI is calculated, the result is removed until TQI is recalculated.

  • If a source string changes or is deleted, TQI results for that string are removed.

  • Moving strings between statuses (translated β†’ reviewed β†’ proofread) does not change existing TQI results.

Viewing TQI Results

Once a TQI task is complete, results are available in the Tasks area:

  1. Go to Tasks in the left menu.

  2. Find your TQI task in the list. You'll see the progress, due date, and creator.

  3. Click Report to open the TQI report. (coming soon)

In the Editor, strings show:

  • Pending TQI while the score is being calculated

  • The calculated score once it is ready

  • A link back to the TQI task report (coming soon)

Reporting & Analytics

TQI results are also included in your AI Reports:

  • View processed words and strings separately for TQI and AI translations.

  • Use filters by project, language, and date range.

  • Breakdown shows translations by TQI tier.

  • Consumption is tracked so you can see how many AI words were used for TQI.

Subscription and Usage Limits

  • TQI tasks consume AI words from your subscription.

  • If you exceed your quota:

    • You'll be prompted to upgrade your plan or reduce your selection.

    • If you don't have permission to upgrade, you'll see an option to contact your Localization Manager.

  • Usage is charged the same way as AI translations.

Managing TQI Tasks

From the Tasks area, you can:

  • Track progress of ongoing TQI tasks

  • Open reports for completed tasks (coming soon)

  • Delete tasks if no longer needed

πŸ’‘Tip: Use TQI tasks on large batches of translations before release to ensure consistent quality, while reducing the cost and effort of manual review.
