π Note: Transifex AI tasks (including TQI Calculation) are available on the Growth plan and up.
Overview
Transifex offers two main types of tasks you can create from the Editor:
AI Translation Tasks β Use AI to generate translations and optionally involve reviewers and proofreaders.
βTQI Calculation Tasks β Evaluate the quality of existing translations using the Translation Quality Index (TQI).
Use AI tasks to produce new translations and TQI tasks to measure the quality of translations already in place.
Creating AI Tasks
Learn how to set up efficient translation workflows with Transifex AI tasks. Discover our precision-meets-speed approach, ensuring uninterrupted progress in AI-powered translations for an enhanced localization experience.
Step #1: Selecting Strings and Initiating Task Creation
Within the Editor, select the strings you want to create a task for. Then, click the 'Create task' button to open the task wizard and proceed with the creation of the task.
Step #2: Defining task parameters
Choose Task Type
For AI-powered workflows, choose one of the following:
Translate
Creates an AI translation task. Transifex AI will automatically translate the selected strings.
Review
If there are untranslated strings, an AI translation subtask is created first for each language. Once AI completes these translations, a review subtask becomes available for the assigned reviewers to review all unreviewed content.
βProofreading
Works the same way as Review, but adds an additional proofreading subtask for each language (if the proofreading step is enabled in your workflow). After AI completes translation and the review step, proofreaders can finalize the content.
Define task parameters
Provide a task name, assign a priority, add a brief description for reviewers or proofreaders, and set due dates.
β
For AI translation tasks, the due date defaults to one day after the task creation. The translations themselves will be completed on the creation date.
At the bottom of the task wizard, you can review the list of resources included in the task.
Click 'Next' to move on to the next step.
Step #3: Selecting Languages and Creating a Task
Select the languages for translating, reviewing, or proofreading your content, and then click 'Next'.
Depending on your task type, the following will happen:
For translation tasks, the task will be created instantly, and Transifex AI will start working on the translations you requested.
For review and proofread tasks, you'll be prompted to define the assignees for the review/proofread work. Once finished, click 'Create Task' to finalize.
After creating the task, you can go to the task directly or close the wizard and return to the Editor.
Creating AI tasks through the API
If you want to automate your AI-task creation process further, you can use Transifex's API and integrate it with your build process. This way, you can automatically create tasks for your teams using the API.
Similar to the UI, you can define the same parameters, such as the assignees, the description, the due dates of a task, the language codes you are interested in, and the priority.
Decide the task_type by providing one of the following values.
AI_TRANSLATION
AI_TRANSLATION_AND_REVIEW
AI_TRANSLATION_AND_REVIEW_AND_PROOFREAD
TQI Calculation Tasks
This task type does not translate any content. Instead, it identifies existing translations that do not yet have a TQI score and calculates TQI for them. This allows you to assess the quality of those translations.
Step #1: Select Strings
In the Editor, filter and select the translations you want to evaluate. and click Create task.
Step #2: Defining TQI task parameters
Select TQI Calculation from the dropdown.
This task identifies translations that do not yet have a TQI score and calculates a quality score for them.
βThe original translations remain unchanged.
Provide a task name, and select the scope to apply TQI:
Translated strings only
βReviewed strings only
βProofread strings only
βAll (translated + reviewed + proofread)
Review the list of resources included in the task at the bottom of the task wizard, then click Next.
Step #3: Select Languages
In this step you need to select the languages you want to apply TQI to. Next to each language you will see the number of words that will be evaluated per status, depending on your scope selection in the previous step.
The assignee for TQI Calculation tasks is by default Transifex AI,
Click Create task to create the tasks and go to the task view to view its progress.
Viewing Transifex AI & TQI Tasks
To view your tasks, navigate to 'Tasks' from the main menu. Tasks are organized by due date, with the closest ones listed at the top.
Please be aware that changing the assignee from Transifex AI to another person is not an available option for Transifex AI translation subtasks.
πNote: Transifex AI translation and TQI Calculation tasks cannot be interrupted, and deleting a task does not stop the translation process that may be in progress.
